Released-team-job-management-software-specilists

Have you heard about Wunderbuild, the new wunderkind on the New Zealand construction management software market? It has thousands of customers, a real human support service, and an impressive dedication to giving customers what they want.

The platform is already popular in Australia, and is starting to make a splash on this side of the Tasman, too. Our team of experienced virtual assistants and software consultants know what a difference a right-fit digital tool can make to a business’s efficiency, productivity, and profitability. That’s why we take the time to get to know each software newcomer!

One of our clients has already signed up for this fantastic tool immediately after the demo call, and we’re excited to discover more about what it can do for builders in Aotearoa.

The Wunderbuild story

Born from an idea in 2015, Wunderbuild was created by a group of building experts who had been running well-established construction school Parker Brent. We spoke to Ahmed Yusuf, one of the founders, who said that it was just before the pandemic that they thought it was time to get stuck in and make the idea a reality. They worked with a small group of builders who became their first users and have stuck with the product throughout.

“We decided that we wanted to work hand in glove with the building community and listen to their frustrations, issues, things like that. Because you know you can go into the kitchen and try and come up with a product that you love, but the market doesn't like it. We said no,we're not going to rush the build.”

The build period was long, as they workshopped the software to make sure it was the right fit for real builders. This has meant that it has met with quick success in Australia and now in New Zealand, and they’re not done refining it yet. Ahmed says that the team receives ten to fifteen feature requests every day from builders, and that trades beyond construction have begun to use the platform, particularly if they’re collaborating with builders. The next step will be to create a subcontractor platform to make these contracting relationships easier.

The Wunderbuild difference

As a newcomer rather than legacy software, Wunderbuild is able to be agile and innovative. They are quick to respond to changing needs, and have committed to providing top-notch support for users. Quick resolutions and openness to suggestions are some of the ways they set themselves apart.

The software recently underwent a complete UI makeover in response to a workshopping session with builders; this ability to update and iterate ensures that Wunderbuild is always meeting the needs of its users.

What can Wunderbuild do?

Simply put, Wunderbuild is a construction management platform with estimation, project management, tasks, communications, checklists, and more useful capabilities.

Pre-project

When a project is simple a twinkle in the eye of a tradie, Wunderbuild helps to get things underway with:

  • Lead management

  • Tender management

  • Accurate estimations

  • Customisable quote proposals

Project management

In the project management stage, it’s easy to schedule and manage tasks, manage documents, and delegate to team members. The Gantt chart view allows business owners and managers a helpful overview of progress, keeping things on track.

Communication

The communication features of Wunderbuild recognise how crucial teamwork and customer service are to a successful project. This is one area in which the software shines! The site diary feature allows teams to keep information and observations in one easily accessible place, making collaboration a breeze. Team chats and client chats are stored within the relevant project, so keeping on top of comms with all parties is organised and easy.

Finances

Easy, streamlined invoice creation, project budget overviews, cost tracking and management,. And timesheets make cashflow and financial management much simpler on a project-by-project basis.

Wunderbuild also integrates with Xero to make bookkeeping and accounting much easier. The Forecast Cost to Complete feature offers users a live snapshot of actual costs, helping to keep projects on track with course corrections where necessary.

What does the future have in store for Wunderbuild?

Some members of the Released team recently attended the Future Builder: AI & Productivity workshop sessions co-hosted by Wunderbuild in Auckland to learn more about the software specifically and also how digital tools in general are changing the construction game.

Claude MCP Integration

This fantastic integration was launched this week, connecting the software via API to the Claude Model Context Protocol which acts like a USB port for AI, permitting Claude to directly access data and information without copy and paste.

This integration works for Claude desktop, Claude Code, and Claude mobile under one account. It makes building live financial dashboards much easier, for starters.

Agentic AI assistant

The Wunderbuild team has built an AI assistant and trained it on 4 years’ worth of support data plus 1,500 simulated sessions to ensure it is equipped to be of real help to real users. Unlike the Claude MCP integration, this is native to the software and will work seamlessly to provide tailored, valuable insights about project data and progress.

Asking, for example, for a budget summary and drill-down by category, will return accurate and updated information based on real data entered. This update is scheduled for release in August.

Workspace studio

Ever wanted more control over your construction management software? Wunderbuild is launching Workspace Studio in Spring 2026, and this will make those customisation dreams come true.

It will allow users to build custom features and apps within the software with AI prompting, no coding required. There will be options to build single forms or workflows, such as a subcontractor onboarding with file upload and e-signature, or multi-module apps such as full equipment management systems with options for booking, logs, and more.

This exciting update will turn Wunderbuild from a product that construction firms use to a platform they can virtually build on. And building is what they do best!

What Released thinks

We’re stoked to see an exciting new player on the market. Our team is brand-agnostic when it comes to job management software; as a virtual business support and software consultancy agency, we support every client to find the one that works for them. One client has already signed up with Wunderbuild after a demo, and from what we have seen so far it is set to be popular with builders.

The tailorability of this software will make it a serious contender, especially for trades business owners who are particular about their systems and workflows. The updates being rolled out over the next few months are set to shake up the construction management game!
